The name The Callahan has been around for six-seven years, but under different constellations, playing all sorts of music! It all began when Freddie (drums), Fritz (guitar) & Joel (bass) formed a new band from the ashes of two other groups. This group of three formed a basis for something that seemed more like a music-collective than a band, with new members showing up and then leaving all the time!

After playing different styles of music for a while, the sound took a more defined form in the direction of rock/pop! The band decided that this was something they really wanted to do, and along came Andy to play the keyboards! Sadly, Joel decided to leave, though they were very fortunate to find Jonas to play the bass!
With a big bag of songs, things started moving forward, and the band got lots of gigs! After going through several singers who never quite fit, they decided to do all the singing themselves!

The songs suddenly sounded like they were supposed to and everything clicked into place with Andy as the frontman! Since Andy was busy singing, the band found Mikelis to play the keyboards. With a demo recorded at their rehearsal studio, they got to do their first show with the new line up at the Popaganda Festival at Stockholm's University! Since then they´ve played all over Sweden at festivals and club gigs.
In January 2004, the band went to Malmö to record with Anders Alexander from Alice In Videoland. The result of this session became an EP with four tracks that was released a month later.

Shortly therafter Mikelis decided to leave the band to study art. Luckily, the band found Anna, who was ready and willing to play the keyboards and smile a lot onstage! Gigging continued unabated.

With a new EP with even newer and more fantastic songs, the intrest from record companies grew and grew! In December the band decided to sign a deal with Dead Frog Records. The rest, as they will be saying, is history! Keep both eyes and both ears open - 2005 is the year of The Callahan!
